Paul
interned at Oxbow High School with mentor Brian Emerson to learn
more about the field of teaching. Paul demonstrated organization
and strong follow-through skills in his participation of the course.
Internship Coordinator, Erin Sykes stated: “I think what
made Paul unique was his hunger to know more. He is very interested
in every aspect of history. There is no question in my mind that
he will exceed expectations in understanding and ability. He went
beyond what he was shown by creating his own variations for students
that he thought would keep them more engaged.” Paul was
able to keep his commitment to TIPS while maintaining academic
excellence in his senior year. It was with great pleasure that
UVBEP honored this enthusiastic student.
TIPS
is offered to local high schools through a collaboration between
the Upper Valley Business and Education Partnership (UVBEP) and
Linking Learning to Life. Thanks to a grant from the Vermont Department
of Labor, UVBEP is piloting TIPS at two schools from November
2007 - August 2008. As with other established UVBEP programs,
participating schools and communities need to provide matching
funding for TIPS or other programs to continue. Read
more or contact UVBEP for
details. |
