The Upper Valley Business and Education Partnership offers an array of programs and services to Partner schools and employers. Our programs integrate academic standards with career development to benefit all stakeholders: students, parents, teachers, schools, employers and community members.

Professional Development for Educators
UVBEP has facilitated a variety of professional development programs. We work with Partner Schools and Employers to meet their needs and availability, and not all programs are offered every year. Programs include:

Summer Externship: Upper Valley educators spend one or two weeks working in local organizations. Employers receive skilled assistance with projects and educators gain valuable experience and career information to add relevance to the classroom.

Educator in the Workplace: Educators have the opportunity to explore Upper Valley resources for teaching during site visits to local businesses. Participants:

  • observe how their content areas are applied in local organizations
  • learn more about what skills are required in today's workplaces
  • gather information on career opportunities for tomorrow's workforce

After the site visits, educators and employers will gather for discussion and to exchange ideas on how to relate the experience to the classroom.

Leadership Teacher offers K-12 educators an innovative approach to professional development by creating opportunities for networking and building partnerships with business and industry. Participants begin the yearlong program with a retreat and then meet once a month through May at sites that demonstrate workplace applications of specific curriculum areas.
